“A day in Ephesus (and more) arranged by Travel Bazaar--amazing!”

Travel Bazaar arranged a day trip to Ephesus for 5 of us which involved flying from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Izmir. The tour included the Virgin Mary's house, the ancient ruins of Ephesus, the Ephesus Archaeological Museum and the site of the Temple of Artemis and all ground transfers. It included a buffet lunch and a stop at a leather goods showroom and a government run rug factory and showroom at the end of the day. The price of the excursion per person was less than the price of that person flying round trip form Istanbul to Izmir. We left our hotel at 5 a.m. and returned at 11:30 p.m. Ephesus is a MUST visit place in Turkey and if you can only manage one day away from Istanbul, this is the way to go. Our guide from Apasas Travel in Selcuk was marvelous. I can't rate this travel experience highly enough.

Joined this full day cruise on the Bosporus to the Black Sea. Having joined in on many tours in Turkey I can easily say that this was one of the best day trips.
Pick up from hotel
Stops in beautiful Ortaköy, interesting visit to Beylerbeyi Palace, stairclimbing in Rumeli Fortress and Anadolu Kavagi which is just wonderful. After lunch there is a stop near a beach where you can take a dip should you want to.
On our way we were served snacks, softdrinks, grilled lunch- coffee/tea and beer can be purchased for a cost. Most staff onboard were friendly and helpful and our guide Mehmet provided us with info during our cruise. The views are fantastic.
I can indeed recommend this tour to everybody above 15 years of age.

Overall we're very happy with our tour! We saw everything we wanted and will forever remember our Turkish adventure! We were on the four day tour by flight: http://www.allcappadociatours.com/217,cappadocia-and-pamukkale-ephesus-tours-by-flight.html
We booked our trip several months ahead so we had only the guidelines to go by and the flight details before the trip. No detailed itinerary though. We are very thankful to have been able to have seen all the sights and experience the culture of Turkey during the tour.
Highlights of our tour:
Goreme open air museum
Derinkuyu underground city, and caves where they filmed star wars
Pamukkale and Hieropolis travertine terrace pools
Ephesus ancient city
We are from Canada so some differences to expect from this tour vs the typical type of North American tour:
-There is a guide with you for the day portion of your tour but they do not come with you between cities.
-Not all transfers from bus depots to hotels are immediate so just be paitient (waited an hour a couple of times and missed the beginning of our first day tour but not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things) since the van drivers may be picking up more than one arrival.
-Tours are pretty fast paced, the second day in Cappadocia had a 3.5 km hike through a stream valley which was not for the faint of heart. I would have chosen to stay in the van if we had to do it over again since that activity feels way too hot for us Canadians here in July.
-The tour vans on the first two days, and the hotel on the first night did not have AC. Drink lots of cold water and you should be all right.
Enjoy!

The one day tour to Cappadocia from Istanbul was worth while doing. However, it turned out to be a long day with a 05h30 start, returning to Istanbul after 23h00 ( thanks to a one hour flight delay).
Two comments:
- The airport pick up in Instabul on the return leg did not appear and we had to take a taxi back to the hotel. This cost was immediately refunded by Travel bazaar.
- In Cappadocia, we were offered and purchased and optional tour to and underground city by Travel bazaar's local partner. We were told that they did not accept credit cards and had to pay in cash, or to go and draw cash at a local auto teller. We were not given the change we were due, which left a poor impression of the company concerned.
Cappadicos is great, but a two day stay would be less rushed.

The Traval Bazaar was a great travel agency and so helpful. They were organized and were a wonderful help in planning my time in Istanbul as well as a side trip to Cappadocia.
In Istanbul they helped us book Bosphorus Cruise which also took us to the Asian side of the city. The tour included a hotel pick up in the morning and drop off in the evenings which was great.
The trip to Cappadocia was also very well planned. We were picked up at the airport there and from the hotel every morning for the tour and dropped back off in the evening. Everything was perfect.

We didn't want to go to the standard destinations so these guys put together an itinerary specifically suited to us, including air travel, hotels, transfers and tours. What we couldn't achieve after two weeks fiddling around on the internet, Senol and Mehmet put together in fifteen minutes. They were clear, good humoured and spoke very good English.
Everything ran incredibly smoothly, anytime we thought the system might have broken down, someone tapped us on the shoulder and took care of us. We had a brilliant holiday in Turkey, largely due to Turkey Travel Bazaar. Next time we go to Turkey we will email them and tell them to get the apple tea ready and start putting our itinerary together. We cannot recommend these guys highly enough. Just Brilliant.

Coskun Kaplan was easy to work with when planning our trip. He was very clear in the itinerary, price and hotels my husband and I would stay at. He provided websites to the hotels we were to use. Great communication from him via email and upon arrival he met us in the hotel w/ our itinerary and flight information. He provided his card and made me feel comfortable in knowing that we could contact him anywhere along the route w/ any questions/concerns. He also provided contact info. on the different tour agencies we were to use in each city. We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day tour with plane connections. The tour guides provided in Ephesus (Cenghis sp?) and Cappadocia (Mustafa) were our absolute favorites. They brought history to life and were very knowledable and personable. They have a passion for their history, culture and country and you could tell they really enjoy what they do. The only guides we felt we could have done w/out were the ones in Istanbul through She Tours. My husband and I would've been comfortable w/ a only a guidebook as most of the sites were all within walking distance and could have easily been done. We weren't given enough time at the Grand Bazaar (45") and Spice Bazaar (45" ) but fortunately we had arrived a day earlier so we were able to visit these places at our leisure. What we especially liked about this tour was the small numbers 8-12 (the Istanbul grp was probably the largest during the Bosphorous cruise day, maybe 20 people?) Since the tourguides were local to each city, it was a different group of tourists in each city as well which was nice. We got to meet such a large variety of interesting people from all over! And if there's one annoying person in the grp it was nice to know that they weren't travelling with you to the next site : ) We would definitely use Turkey Travel Bazaar again and hope to explore Eastern Turkey next time. We were taken care of every step of the way. Thanks to all our tourguides and to Coskun!!
